Slate and stone fish

Ages : 3-7 yrs old

Time : 20-30 minutes

How to :

- Spend 10 minutes gathering stones and shells with your child/children

- proceed to drawing a fish with your hand in the sand. Fill up the fish shape with the gathered pebles and shells. This fish was made by my 4 and 6 year old sons.

Skills practiced : selecting, searching, colour recognition, planning, imagination, hand-eye coordination. If there are several children working on the same animal, social skills and team work will be practised.

Monstershell !!

Ages : 3-10 yrs old

Time: 10min -2 hrs

How to :

- Gather some shells with your children (lighter coloured shells are best because the felt tip colour then is clearly visible. this can take anything from 5 minutes to 1hr)

- Use felt tip pens to draw in faces on the shells and colour the shells. Kids love it ! you can then create a Monstershell art gallery to show the family and kids can explain what they did and give the shells names or tell a story.
